An exciting opportunity has now arisen for a new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to join our team and take the lead in the evolution of our technical services. This role will ideally be based at our Headquarters in Westminster but is also available based in Sheffield.

We are seeking a high calibre individual with an in-depth, conscientious and customer-focused approach to delivering IT services to join our growing, global engineering institution.

This role is the ideal progression route for an individual who is eager to take their next logical IT management step. Your broad range of skills and experience will be put to good use as you take a strategic approach whilst remaining able to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in when required.

What’s more, there are various working options that will mean that you can work from home with travel into our Westminster office, can be based at our stunning headquarters, one Birdcage Walk, or even from our offices in Sheffield (with travel to London for team meetings etc.).

The Role

As our Chief Technology Officer, you will lead our IT services from a strategic and management perspective.

Taking a customer focused and technical excellence approach, you will ensure our IT services continue to be improved and delivered to a complex range of stakeholders. You will design and implement an effective strategy, as well as planning and implementing processes that ensure IMechE follows the latest industry best practice for IT.

Providing line management to the IT Operations Manager and the IT Scrum Master, you will oversee a function of around 14 team members across the two areas. You will take the lead in developing a culture of professional excellence and customer service where new and improved working methods are embraced and knowledge and skills are shared.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will:

- Develop and maintain an IT strategy and roadmap and implement long-term strategic technical goals and short-term tactical plans
- Governance, security, risk and compliance including IT risk management, risk mitigation and contingency planning are in place
- Manage the preparation of the annual IT budget and any new budgetary additions
- Ensure that the IT service achieve performance and availability targets and standards are delivered
- Develop, maintain, and review performance management systems
- Manage and prioritise the work’s workload and review the staffing structure to support this
- Lead, motivate and develop the IT team, and ensure a comprehensive programme of staff development is in place
- Lead in managing supplier and contractor relationships

About You

To be considered as our Chief Technology Officer, you will need:

- Experience of working at a senior management level in IT, managing capital and revenue budgets
- Experience of achieving organisational strategic goals by delivering IT infrastructure or systems
- Experience of security management and applying security standards, e.g., Cyber Essentials, throughout an organisation
- Experience managing a portfolio of projects within an IT programme
- Experience performing a key role in the management of service continuity
- Knowledge of Microsoft OS, application and Office 365 management and Cloud Services
- Knowledge of Agile or PRINCE2 project methodologies.
- Excellent leadership skills with a strategic mindset and the ability to see the big picture
- A strong focus on customer service and customer experience
- Outstanding problem-solving skills coupled with commercial acumen, intellectual curiosity and a desire to find better ways of achieving goals
- Excellent influencing and negotiation skills with key supplier contracts.
- A degree in IT or at least five years’ senior IT experience

We’re now looking for a Creative Production Assistant to join our Engineering, Communication and Marketing Services Team on a permanent, full-time basis.

Working in a small, dynamic team you will deliver projects which represent the values and behaviours of the IMechE, thus improving the world through engineering.

The Role

As a Creative Production Assistant, you will be responsible for helping the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) to become an exciting, creative, and relevant Professional Engineering Institution (PEI), influencing change across our core sectors.

Specifically, you will work across all internal teams to ensure that each project is delivered within agreed timescales with excellent client management, collaborative teamwork and communication skills.

In addition, you will assist with the launch of a new image library using a Digital Asset Management (DAM) software, which will include uploading all images into the new software and adding customisable metadata.

Assisting the Digital Team, your role will also include:

- Creating consistent and engaging high-quality video and audio content
- Providing marketing support working on event guides and brochures
- Uploading video assets to YouTube, including creating thumbnails, updating
playlists and video tags, and providing analytical insights
- Updating website content using the Sitefinity Content Management System (CMS)
- Photography as and when requested by events or senior management

About You

To be considered as a Creative Production Assistant, you will need:

- Previous experience in a similar role
- Experience with video editing software, both in production and post-production stages
- Experience and portfolio of digital and audio production for member focused content
- A good working knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, other Adobe CS programs (Adobe Audition, After Affects and Premier Pro) and digital design software
- Experience with working on video platforms, specifically YouTube
- Working knowledge of front-end web coding techniques (HTML)
- Meticulous attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal

Previous experience of working within a membership organisation or similar would be advantageous to your application.
